How it works

Wall area is the room perimeter multiplied by the wall height, minus door and window openings; that area is multiplied by the number of coats and divided by the paint's stated coverage per litre.

Frequently asked questions

What coverage should I use?

Most emulsions cover 10-12 m2 per litre per coat; the tin states the exact figure.

Do I need two coats?

Two coats are standard over an existing similar colour; expect three when covering a dark shade with a light one.
