How it works

Simplifying divides both sides by their greatest common divisor. Solving uses cross-multiplication: if A:B equals C:D, then A×D equals B×C, so any one missing value can be recovered from the other three.

Can I use it for aspect ratios?

Yes. Enter 1920 and 1080 to see 16:9, or solve for the height that keeps a given width in proportion.

What if my ratio has decimals?

Decimal inputs are scaled up to whole numbers before simplifying, so 2.5:5 reduces to 1:2.
