How it works

Your pattern and flags are compiled into a JavaScript RegExp and run against the test text. Every match is listed with its position and captured groups, and the matched spans are highlighted in place so you can see exactly what the pattern consumes.

Frequently asked questions

Which regex flavour is this?

JavaScript (ECMAScript) regular expressions, the same engine your browser and Node.js use. Most PCRE patterns work, but lookbehind and named groups need a modern browser.

What do the flags mean?

g finds all matches instead of just the first, i ignores case, m makes ^ and $ match line boundaries, and s lets the dot match newlines.
