How it works

Slope is the rise over the run, (y₂ − y₁) / (x₂ − x₁). The tool also returns the line's angle, the distance between the points, and the slope-intercept equation.

Frequently asked questions

What if the line is vertical?

The slope is undefined because the run is zero, and the tool says so explicitly.

What is the y-intercept?

The y value where the line crosses x = 0, the b in y = mx + b.
