    How it works

Each page is re-rendered as a compressed image and rebuilt into a new PDF at the original page size. That flattens scanned documents and image-heavy exports dramatically. Text-only PDFs are already small, so they may not shrink much.

    Frequently asked questions

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Everything runs inside your browser with JavaScript — your PDF never leaves your device.

    Will my text stay selectable?

No. Compression rasterises each page, so the result is image-based. Keep the original if you need searchable text.

    Which level should I choose?

Balanced suits most scans. Use Light for documents you will print and Strong when the file must be as small as possible.

My file got bigger — why?

Text-only PDFs are already highly compressed. Rasterising them can add size; in that case the original is the better file.
