Final Grade Calculator
Find the score you need on the final exam to hit your target grade.
How it works
Your current grade covers everything except the final, so it counts for (100 − final weight) percent of the course. The tool solves for the final score that makes those two weighted pieces add up to your target: needed = (target − current × (1 − weight)) ÷ weight.
Frequently asked questions
What if the score I need is over 100%?
It means your target is out of reach from the final alone. Look at extra credit, a dropped lowest score, or set a realistic target — the calculator also shows the best grade still possible.
What if the needed score is negative?
You have already locked in your target: even a zero on the final leaves you at or above it. The worst-possible-grade figure confirms your floor.
Where do I find the final exam weight?
It is in the syllabus, usually in the grading breakdown — for example "Final exam: 30% of course grade". Enter that number as the weight.
